Location
- The location of the Amazon Rain Forest is in the upper section of Brazil, south of the equator.
- Some cities near the Amazon Rain forest are Manaus, Brazil, Brazil, and Belem, Brazil ,but the hotel is located in Manaus.
Climate
- The climate consists of temperatures approximately 20 to 27 degrees Celsius.
Weather Patterns
- The typical daily weather pattern is at about 3:00pm. The sun is at its hottest by then and all the water will have evaporated and gone up in to the air to form clouds .
- The clouds will then become heavy and let out a sudden rainfall for a few minutes. When the rain stops, because of the heat, all of the steam will rise and all will be normal again.
- At night it is different, it is a lot cooler and there is hardly any sudden rainfalls. The average year-round temperature is 27 degrees Celsius.
- The biome gets 200-1,000 cm of rainfall annually.
- Tropical areas, such as the Amazon Rainforest, don't have seasons like spring, summer, fall, and winter. Instead seasons in the rainforest are divided into the dry season and the wet season, each lasting about six months. In the tropical areas just south of the Equator, the wettest part of the wet season occurs between December and May.
- On the other hand, during the dry season, the Amazon receives very little rainfall. From June through August, the Amazon Rainforest receives only an average of 6 inches of rain.
Terrain
- The terrain of the Amazon Rain Forest is very muddy and it has a lot of plant life. The constant rain flow causes the soil to be very mushy, and it also drains the nutrients out of it, so areas where plant life has been destroyed have a hard time reestablishing life because of the low levels of nutrients in the soil.
Soil Conditions
- The soil conditions are not the best.
- Since there is a lot of rain, the rain causes the soil to be very mushy and muddy.
- When the plants grow in the soil the plants take all the nutrients from the soil and then the soil is left with no nutrients.
- The only reason plant life is so lush is because the plants store the nutrients in themselves rather than getting them from the soil.
- That is a reason for the soil not being great here.
- The vegetation there is very damp, dense and thick.
